SaveMySubie777
Driving home from work today, I noticed a lot of white smoke coming from under the hood. After I pull over and pop the hood, I notice that there is brown-black fluid all over the passenger side of the engine, firewall, on the underside of the hood, basically everywhere but again only on the passenger side. Recently, a mechanic told me that this car has a power steering leak, so I checked and it didn't se like any was lost. My friend who works on cars suggests that it could be the power steering pump based on my description of the fluid and the location. Any thoughts? Thanks. By the way I attached a photo of what the engine looked like when it was covered in fluid.
snederhiser
Hello; You have not given much information, but beneath the power steering pump is the oil sending unit. Have heard of these being replaced, common fault? Steven.
pleaidestar
Nice picture, you take that in stride? J/k. That's a lot of oil, how your motor oil level? My motor looked just like that when I forgot to fasten the send line for the transmission. And I mean it was all over the place, that fluid came out projectile vomit style...even had some in my headlights.
SaveMySubie777
It was coolant. There was crack in the radiator on the left side of the upper hose and so coolant was sprayed everywhere once that happened. My friend help me replace the radiator and flush the coolant system. My subie is running beautiful now!
