2007 Stereo and Connector Questions

Hi everyone I just bought an '07 Spec B last weekend and love it, it's my first Subaru. I've been having problems with the factory radio though. It powers on and appears to tune but has no sound. On a rare occasion is works fine, but it's SUPER rare it when it works.

So today I thought I'd poke around in the dash/console and check wiring and have some questions. I think this is a Clarion unit if that helps.

What's the deal with this big black connector off the radio? It's not plugged in to anything and I couldn't find anything to plug in to.

I determined someone else has been messing around in the dash and I found this brown sensor looking thing just laying over on the passenger side (Pic below). Anyone know what it is and where it attaches?

Also on the passenger side this large black connector is just hangin there, seems like it should be fastened to something? Where?

Thanks for the help

the 20pin connector in your first picture is a daisy chain connection so you can add more stuff to your car. IE SAT or Ipod attachement. IMO everything in the back there looks normal. I would check your fuses before doing anything else. as for the brown thing it could be a couple things like cig lighter light, Glove box light the last connector I have no idea.

Connects/attaches to side of the fan motor... it's just a support for the connector.
