Yep replaced the master cylinder this morning and bled out the system again. Started the car, pushed in the clutch, put it in gear, and sat there for 3+ minutes like that. It held pressure and never tried to inch forward as it did before. Then changed the oil, mounted the under tray and buttoned it up. Didn't get a chance to test drive it as my dad and I hung the TV on the wall and put the rear surround speakers in the ceiling.

Finally got a chance to take the Mustang on our local fun road... :D

This thing is brutally fast... :D

Not as sharp as the Miatas, but loads of grip, and the suspension is very composed right up to the limit where it gets a little vague. Very impressive for stock stuff and considering the weight!

Plus, it's hard to argue with 435hp and a great soundtrack...

can you see over that hood?

I test drove one over a year ago and it just seemed to be a bit long and high.

After my little drive this morning, I spent the day working cars.

Another cosmetic mod on the 'Stang....

I never liked the body color valance on the base GTs, especially not on our Grabber Blue. Plastidip to the rescue!

You can see the 'before' in the post above... here's after:

Also swapped Torsens in the NA... installed a 4.30 and the 4.10 ended up on the floor.

Gonna see if this gives it a little more oomph on track. :D

It still feels huge, but we've been driving Miatas for 4 years... :p

It definitely takes up more room in the trailer!

Finally test drove the car after replacing the master cylinder on Saturday... The drive to work is a great time to test out a fairly important part repair isn't it? :spin:

Seem to be working just fine. Clutch engagement point is a little different, but that figures as who knows if the old one was leaking for a long time or not.

I love living here and I even have respect for the emissions requirements here and believe they are needed. I'm not a fan of how they are implemented.

This is a bit of a game changer for me. Boost for the Miata has gone from "that'd be cool if I could do it" to "I think I'm going to have to try to make this happen!"

Too quiet in here...

No real Miata content, but I did some work on the trailer.

When I bought our trailer, I paid to have the overhead cabinets built in, but didn't get lower cabinets because I wanted to build a toolbox/workbench in that space. After a lot of research and head scratching, I decided to use a Harbor Frieght tool cart instead of a tool box. This way I could roll it out into the pits when necessary.

I was also able to grab it on sale for $150, about half what I would have had to spend on a tool box. The only problem is it was too tall for the bench height. So I cut 3" out of the legs... before I even assembled it... :p

40754887701_4b255f8a7e_c.jpg

I also had to change two of the casters, as the stock wheels didn't swivel, and were designed to point 90* off where I wanted them.

25884199527_c3974edc90_c.jpg

The idea was for the cart to roll into the front of the trailer between two bench sections. Everything was looking good, and it cleared the winch without any issues (I did measure before buying it...).

Height worked out perfect (considering the lid was the one thing I didn't measure...)

40833916681_646ba78c2a_c.jpg

Next up was building the frames for the bench sections. I decided on aluminum to keep the weight down. Total weight of the frames was under 50lbs. Cart is ~ 125lbs empty, so the whole mess will change the balance somewhat. I have plenty of room to move the car back, so that won't be an issue.

Would you believe this is $230 worth of aluminum??

After a couple days of fab work (getting pretty good with the TIG) the sections were welded up and bolted in...

And the cart rolled right in as intended...

Eventually, it will get a worktop and trim (and maybe cabinet doors) to match the overhead bins. It will also get some sort of locking "docking station" for the tool cart. I have some ideas knocking around in my head, but haven't finalized anything yet. For now, tie down straps will do for our next outing to Willow Springs in two weeks .

Your trailer is awesome! Way beyond my needs unless I'm going exocet

My wife and I had a pretty rough week so I haven't been doing much anything. I drove it to work Monday and Tuesday then used it to run some errands for us on Wednesday.

I installed my Marrad LX1 seat today with the stock 3 point seat belt. I think I'm going to go back and move the shoulder belt back to the outside of the slot as it rubs my neck.

Nice.

I really like those for a street seat, just wish they were a little more reasonably priced.

Oh, I started a new thread... http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/bought-mustang-269350.html

Yeah I for new money I'd get a fully FIA certified seat but I got mine 'used' almost 2 years ago now. The guy I bought it from never installed it so it's brand new and has just been sitting in my garage.

Ran it in autox today started out with a 67.5. My fastest time was on the last run 62.5. I ran in SM because I didn't want to go in the afternoon with the huge groups. I was 4-5 seconds slower than the fastest SM cars.

Rolled in this afternoon from a weekend at Willow Springs. My wife was taking the SoCal Alfa Club's driving school. When we arrived, they had space in the school, and told us we could share a car.... after having my arm twisted like that, how could I not sign up??!! :p

Our pit/camp:

On the skidpad:

My wife getting some coaching:

The school was a little basic for my wife, and really basic for me, but the skidpad exercises really made it worthwhile. We ran several drills, wet and dry, and it was nice to work on the edge of adhesion without worrying about spinning off the track!

Speaking of track...

Well worth the very reasonable price, and there's a good chance we'll be going back next year. My wife wants to re-run the Street Performance school in her Mustang, and I'd like to step up to the Time Trial school with the Miata.

Next event is FM Summer Camp in June... we're both looking forward to setting personal bests with both car and driver improvements... :D

There were a lot of nice cars there. In our group, a nicely modded '06 STI, 2 Alfa Giulias, the 4C above, a ZL1 Camaro and even an Alfa GTV6. In the other street group there were a couple of Porsches and a Ferrari 488GT.

The 240Z had some patina, but was a very nice car. The kid had done a lot of suspension work, but left it looking stock. He was a very good driver for a beginner!

Yeah, I noticed the paint on the 240's hood. How the hell he found a good one that old is beyond me. I looked for them in the early 80s but couldn't find one that wasn't a rusted PoC. One I drove had four wheel steering becz a link to the DeDion broke off on one side due to rust.

And I lust for the GTV6. Gorgeous cars but out of my price range when they came out. Italian motors. Grrrrrrr.
