shadoobie
Can I fit 205/50 17 on stock rims on a very lowered 05 wagon? 225/45 17s worked just fine in the summer, but 205/50 is even taller right? any advice or help greatly appreciated! Has anyone run these on a wagon? A lowered wagon?
krzyss
Why do you think 205/50 is taller than 225/45? Krzys
shadoobie
205 x .50 = 102.5 225 x .45 = 101.25 102.5 is greater
monkonmonk
205 x .50 = 102.5 225 x .45 = 101.25 102.5 is greater So, the tire would be 2.5 millimeters taller. But, tire variation between brands, model, etc. would eat up the 2.5mm.
Ellesedil
Only 1.25mm, actually. Also, is this going on the same width rim as the summers? If you're summers are pretty square on the rim, cutting 20mm from the width of the tire will stretch them a bit, which will probably eat the difference all by itself. krzyss
In short, their circumference is virtually identical. Check manufacturer's specs and you will find that they are very, very close. Krzys
shadoobie
thanks guys...I'm going with 205/50!
digger47
I run 205/50/17 snow tires on my wagon. I usually put the stock suspension back on, but our winters have been mild in Ohio, so I still have my bilsteins with swift springs and never had an issue. K2e2vin
Only 1.25mm, actually. Also, is this going on the same width rim as the summers? Monkonmonk was right, it'd be 2.5mm. 1.25mm is just the sidewall, OD/height would be rim diameter+both sidewalls. I went basically to what you went(225/45 summers to 205/50); even though I'm at stock height I didn't really see a difference(I had them next to each other to make sure). I didn't realize he was talking about the total height.
