AZP Installs
The most important thing you can do is keep up on your maintenance. Since you just bought this car and even if there is paperwork, you don't know if or how well the last major maintenance was done. At 124k miles you should have the following done to ensure that it is up to spec in terms of maintenance: 120k service (aka 60k service) Timing Belt Service (not just a timing belt replacement) You can look under the maintenance section on our webpage for details of what SHOULD be included in each service. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. joemo
The oil burning could be a number of things most likely last time to change the oil some was spilled on the exhaust miss now stuck between the pipe in the heat shield in burning off unfortunately this takes a long time your valve covers could also be leaking on to your headers the gromit bolt could be leaking you could have a torn CV boot spraying. Oil on the exhaust and another thing your oil cooler seal could be leaking sprYing oil on to exhaust. I have the same problem I took it to a shop they say it's not leaking the cleaned up the passenger side of the motor told me to come back in a week to see if there's any new oil. Another thing to keep an eye on if it gets cold where you live your gas line clamps will let go and you begin to leak fuel to fix the 1 under the intake is roughly 350 dollars there is also another 1 that will leak az well. As far as making your car last change your turbo at about 100,000 miles I've heard horror stories of the shaft exploding and being sucked down into the motor destroying it
