radioflyer2006
Long story short, I have an aftermarket head unit in my 2.5i with manual climate controls and I'm tired of the head unit. What I'd like to do is go back to stock, but wanted to look into the idea of replacing the stock stereo/climate unit with the 6 disk changer/auto climate unit. Is this impossible? Are the wiring harnesses different on the back of the auto climate? Any help or insight into this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
ssbtech
I think the 6 disc was only available with the automatic climate control. The automatic climate control can't be used for the manual control. The auto HVAC is an entirely different system controlled electronically, whereas the manual system is controlled by cables and hoses to the dials. AkumaMax
Can it be done? Yes. Is it practical? Hell no! Not only is the wiring harness different but they are Dual climate controls so the entire heating system must be replaced and Rewired. This requires taking apart the whole dash and removing the heater core and system. I'm guessing around a good $3,000 to DIY and a good $4,500 to have someone do it. radioflyer2006
Well that more than answers my question! Thank you. Looks like I'll be sticking with some kind of aftermarket stereo then.
