My Subaru RFRB

RFRB96

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

Got this car a month ago and I haven't done anything to this car haha. Still dont quite know what to do with it TBH!

Here's the spec:

Subaru RFRB Legacy TS(Type)R

Genuine RFRB TS(type)R 1996

5Speed Manual

Subaru Forrester Bucket Seats

RFRB Roof Spoiler

RFRB 16" Lightweight Allots

RFRB Grill (took it off for now as it looks ugly without 17")

If you were wondering why the headlights aren't facelift its because thats the RFRB Model - PreFL Headlights and FL bumper and everything.

Black Interior

ABS

Airbag

Genuine Subaru Momo Steering wheel and Grear Knob

Exedy Clutch

Bilstein Shocks

RSR Springs

Factory High Flow Exhaust

RV Inno Roof Racks

It has a few Scratches here and there but it will be touched up by my panelbeater mate early December and maybe chuck on some rims? I have Genuine GTB rims in my garage atm so thinking of chucking those on once the small scratches are gone.

It's funny how the word "RFRB" Means "Run Fast Run Beautiful" Sounds very Japanese ;)

That is absolutely gorgeous.

That's a really nice car!

There isn't really anything you need to do to that car, it's really nice how it is!

The only thing I'd probably do is the JDM headlights because they have so much better output.

Thanks! Ahh yes the JDM Headlights! I have them in the shed although I still need to find time to install them - Maybe take off the plastic cover and repaint the parklight side black. I guess I will keep the car as it is until I can think of something else to do to it:) Meanwhile, the usual maintenance.

For the headlights, Would I need to change/swap anything on the wiring or do the harness plug straight onto the new lights??

There are writups on how to do it. But no, they don't plug in.

It's a negatively switched system.

You have to hook the common wire to both high and low beam to the constant positive.

The high beam negative wire to the high beam bulb, and then I ground the low beam bulb to the car and don't hook the low beam wire to anything. That way, when the headlights are on, the projector is always on (otherwise it'll go off when you turn on the high beams, this is not how it's supposed to work). If you connect the low beam ground to the low beam, and then ground that, your fogs will always stay on, and that's now how it's supposed to work.

So it's best just to ground the low beam to the car, and call it good. Pretty simple, really, just hook up 3 wires.

The blinker bulb and base just go right into the JDM lights, so there's nothing custom there. I think you have to trim one of the plastic tabs or something, it's not complicated.

The JDM lights only do blinkers in the corners because it uses a separate bulb in the headlight for the parking lights.
