ricky santana
It's time for a tune up, CEL reads p302, p402 plus the coil pack shocked the shit out of me the other day. When I googled coil pack for my 97 OBW 2.5 I get thishttp://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Ignition-Coil-Pack-Subaru-Impreza-Legacy-99-98-97-1999-1998-1997-/230798102098?forcev4exp=true&forceRpt=true But my car has thishttp://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Ignition-Coil-Pack-Subaru-Impreza-Legacy-98-96-95-94-93-92-91-90-1998-1996-/230805271786?forcev4exp=true&forceRpt=true So which is the correct one? Any advice on plugs and wires? I was planning on NGK Iridium plugs and NGK wires. Thanks in advance.
twisty
the 97 nimpreza i stole the coil pack off of had the one in the first link. and i replaced my oem one with http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l2736&_nkw=MSD+coil+%238239 which is pretty much the one from the first link. i have oem 97 impreza cables and NGK iridium plugs. heres a link to the DiY for the MSD install http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/msd-coil-into-subaru-step-step-photos-152338.html
ricky santana
I've read that before and wonered if it would be worth it. Have you noticed any real improvements over EOM? So I'm guessing my car has the wrong coil pack?
twisty
it does seem to fire better. i havent seen an increase in mileage, actually it dropped a while after. im sure that is due to other factors tho. as for whether yours is wrong or not, both styles have similar specs, just different tails and plug connections. the 97s i have seen are like the msd one, with the male ends on the coil. the 95 i have has the male cables, female coil ends. not sure if the tails are different, i made an adapter to fit the MSD to my oem harness.
