LegacyDan
So my Vredsteins are at the end of their life, they are 235/40/18 but the rub on the arch liner on full lock, so i was thinking of dropping down to 225/40/18. is this the best size for an 18x8 inch rim or am i better off sticking with 235's? Thanks Dan
LosAngelesLGT
245/45/18 for the win! =D http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3255882&postcount=149 EDIT: OPPS! That was in the middle of the night during a baby feeding. I am running 245/35/18 as whitetiger suggests.
LegacyDan
i think i would have even more rub issues if i went any bigger!
whitetiger
245/35/18 is closest to stock overall diameter.
LegacyDan
245/35/18 is closest to stock overall diameter. hmmm i wouldn't say there would be too much comfort in the 35 profile ones, roads a bad enough around here! there is some difference in price too between the 225/40 and the 245/35! $470 vs $800! whitetiger
^there is only a 5mm difference between those 2 sidewall heights of the sizes you listed. not so much difference in comfort. plus the 245 will protect the rim better than the 225 since the rubber sticks out past the rim more. price though, i agree with you. 245 wide choices are alot more $$$
LegacyDan
i would go wider if i could but the rubbing issue is putting me off. i found a set of 225/40/18 locally pretty cheap, ill see if he has the 245/35 and if he thinks they will fit with no issues, i dont think they will though. Thanks for the advice
whitetiger
if your rim is +48, it will fit with just a very minor fender roll, if at all, and -1.5 camber all around. on stock suspension, my 245/40/17 fits with no issue on a 17x8 +48 rim. LegacyDan
i think they are +48 alright but slightly lowered on jdm billies with sti pinks, i dont think they would rub on the arch just rub more on the wheel arch liner and wear a hole in that pretty quick! whitetiger
they shouldnt rub on the liner unless the car is very low, lower than what pinks will do. you'll be fine.

dingbang
I run 245/35/18 on my gravels. Also lowered with koni/epics. No rubbing...but this is my last summer I will be getting out of these tires so they are a little worn down.

whitetiger
thats because you are using 225 wide. put on a 245 wide tire and see.

lol slow
225or even a 215. i have a 9.75" wide wheel on a 225 tire, yeah it'll probably come right off if I were to auto x the car or something, but otherwise it's fine and the ride wonderful. I'd do a 215 all day if i were you.
