Aethersnap
I've finally put aside enough money to pick my new summer wheels. Im looking to pull the trigger on some Gravel's and need advice on tire size. Looking at 18x8, +48mm... Which I do believe clears STi brembos, which I will be installing by summers end. Now, 225/40/18? 235/35? 235/40? Dunlop Star Specs if it matters... What do yo guys suggest? Not sure which size is best... Looking to run tires without any fender work or spacers. Thanks, Jake. iNVAR
225/40 works nicely on a 18x7.5 and squares up properly. I would expect that a 225/40 on a 8" wide rim would be slightly stretched so you may want to step up to the 235. As for rubbing, check the sticky for fitment. iNVAR
I know 225/40/18 looks good for me, but that's on an 18x7.5 rim. A 235/35/18 is actually the closest match to my stock 215/45/17 you can get and on an 8" rim it should look good. It would be 0.5" increase in rim width with a 10mm (0.394") increase in tire width. BUT 235/35 is pretty damn rare I believe.
