ClimberDHexMods
It appears to be a really unhappy engine, everywhere. Did you recently buy some bad gas? Lots more info on the car please, anything related to mechanical and software control. brad_houck
its an 08 5 speed, catless downpipe, 3in exhaust, drop in filter, and infamous stg 2 tuned on the 3rd revision. i have gotten gas from giant twice within the past few months but its usually shell or sunoco. bmx045
does your car consume oil?
brad_houck
i usually have to put in a little less than a qt every 3k miles.
bmx045
hmmm, a compression test wouldn't hurt. that's a lot of knock, assuming you didnt repeatedly get bad gas
brad_houck
should i worry about the positives ones cuz i thought it was adding timing at those points? do you think i should reload the tune and drive it and pull another LV to see if anything changes?
bmx045
your IAM is below 1. the ecu is slowly adding timing back in hopes it will clear up so it can get back to 1. you want the iam at 1. but your car is knocking so bad it's pulled timing across the entire timing table and slowly adding timing back to eventually reach 1 again..... oil in the combustion chamber can cause detonation and that comes from cracked ringlands
brad_houck
so if it goes back to 1 i should assume it was just bad gas
iNVAR
infamous is your tuner, and you're on your third revision. you really should be asking him about this. no telling what changes he made... or what the condition of the LV was prior to the changes, etc.
brad_houck
i did im waiting for him to email me back. i was just checking on here in the mean time.

bmx045
garbage, if it were my car i'd do a compression check. even in revision maps it shouldn't be dropping its IAM unless the revised timing tables are completely inappropriate, which is unlikely. either you have a bad air leak somewhere, really bad gas, or low compression in a cyl or more
semsub
this is one i just pulled today. ClimberDHexMods
Rev 5 does not look like you drove long enough to have the ECU learn anything. semsub
Rev 5 does not look like you drove long enough to have the ECU learn anything. This is rev4 ,rev 5 is clean:) This is logs only after pulls Logs from after a week or so looks random, but nothing bad. When I start to panic after rev3 logs, Shamar told me it was part of tuning and later all will be ok, and now it is ok
ClimberDHexMods
Oops, meant to say that about Rev 4 [CENTER][B][I] Front Limited Slip Racing Differentials for the 5EAT now available for $1895 shipped, please inquire for details! brad_houck
this is one i just pulled today. its been 4 days since the last one. is that long enough to learn knock? could it have just been bad gas?
bmx045
looks good, i think you might have a rattle in the engine bay or something...right now
brad_houck
so through a combination of a smoke tester and a boost leak tester i found smoke coming out of this block off plate which appears to be on the tgvs. could this be why my car is adding fuel in the l/v?
bmx045
Yes its possible. That area is under vacuum at idle and slight cruise and under positive pressure when on boost.
bmx045
But really, that last posted learning view showed acceptable fuel trims. Within +\- 5%. And less than 1% for learned D range. But either way, eliminating any leaks is the best practice and will only help the way the car runs and idles.
brad_houck
ok cause thats the only place where smoke was coming out. now just to get to those screws...
