Subfan
Hey guys- I am not a DIY'er, so I had the dealership do a 30k maintenance last weekend. I figured I would check under the hood and see how everything looked. When checking the dip sticks, one thing I thought looked a little odd was the Diff Fluid and Transmission Fluid. I checked them after the car had been in the garage for 3 hours and the dip sticks pulled for 30 minutes so everything would drain and I could get an accurate reading. Anyway, from what I can tell, these two are slightly high (hopefully it is easy to see on the images). Just wanting to check and make sure I wouldn't run into any issues. Thanks for your suggestions. scoobyscoodle
The diff doesn't matter as much but the trans is overfilled, FYI trans fluid level should be checked when hot. Not sure of the issues, if any, with extra fluid.
ouch1011
Did you check the trans fluid with the engine running and after shifting through all the gears? If so, its going to read high. Recheck it using the method I just said. The diff fluid is a little overfull but probably is not going to cause a problem with that slight overfill in a diff. An engine or trans would be a different story.
bmx045
My tranny dipstick reads the same level, it's been driving fine like that for 20k miles since I did my last drain and refill
GTTuner
That diff level should be OK but if your shift shaft seal is seeping it may aggrivate the leak. Slightly overfull engine oil is not a big deal, but if it is more than a half quart over, I would adjust I the level.
