WESTcoast
I got a quick delimma on my hands I need a passengerside hub and I have the change on picking up a hub from an 00 rs. Will I be able to use it? I want to say they are the same exact thing but any insight is greatly appriciated!
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted March 1, 2012 I Donated Share Posted March 1, 2012 just the hub or the entire steering knuckle assembly? They are the same either way as far as I know. -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." I Donated broknindarkagain Posted March 1, 2012 I Donated Share Posted March 1, 2012 I think we are refering to two different things here. First - here is a "hub" (on the right. left is the bearing) http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2686/4133476947_836836c96d.jpg Second - here is a steering knuckle / strut knee / various other names (it has the hub already pressed into it in this picture) http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt197/XionPrince/5lugfacts003.jpg -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." maddoc
Yes and no. A 00 RS has the ABS ring inside the knuckle and the sensor is on the axle (much like the 02-04 WRX) The 97-99 Legacy (and 93-98 Imprezas/Foresters (might be up to 99)/and A couple others I think) have the ABS ring on the hub and the sensor is bolted to the hub on the back. I think if you get the axles for the 00 RS and the hubs, then you would be able to use it, otherwise, no. Basically,if its got a Phase I DOHC motor it's got the older ABS on hub set up. If its a Phase II SOHC motor, its got the ABS ring inside the knuckle.
WESTcoast
ok don't know if this will change anything but it is not a 00 RS its a 98, and I still stuck with the same answer?
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted March 1, 2012 I Donated Share Posted March 1, 2012 If its a 98, then the tone ring should be the same. Regardless, you can run the newer style...you just won't have ABS -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
