Niffler Posted February 15, 2012 Share Posted February 15, 2012 HI, I'm buying my first Subaru this weekend. It's a 1998 Legacy GT wagon 5spd with 200k miles. It's one owner and all service records. He is an older gentleman and took great care of it but he can't drive a stick anymore. I'm picking it up for $500.00. I was wondering is there anything I should be looking for besides the norm. I've been seeing alot about head gasket issues. Is this something that was corrected with the first repair or is it something that has to be done every so many miles? I've worked on alot of my Chevys, would this be a job a compentent backyard mechanic could do? Anything else to watch out for? Thanks in advance for any help.
