ece_tim Posted February 15, 2012 Share Posted February 15, 2012 I was curious if anyone had input or experience with the 01 Outbacks and 3.0L H6. There's one available locally with the 3.0L H6 for a pretty reasonable price and my wife is itching for a wagon. From what I've read the H6 is pretty stout. Timing chain & guides can be an issue with high mileage and head gasket's are a bitch if they need to be done. I'm assuming the tranny is different from the 4EAT used in the 2.5L's. Is that any area of concern? I'd welcome any input or links. I'm a bit wary of buying such a high mileage vehicle from a small dealer and want to be as informed as possible.
