NewCarSmell
I have a two week old 3.6R GGM and I would like to tint my windows but my rebel days are past. Has anyone tinted thier windows to the legal level in NY (70%)?? I've searched all over looking for a picture of someone who has and failed. I've always lived in states that did 35% and that was ok-ish. Is 70% a waste??
lilziggy1320
70% is a waste, i had it on my old RSX it did nothing at all. Right now i have 30% on my legacy and havent gotten a ticket yet in the two years i've had it on.

06_legacygt
Why doesn't NJ have a legal tint limit? not like it matters mine are tinted anyway. 40% all the way around. 2006 Legacy GT 5EAT Perrin UP, SPT CAI, OBXR CBE, Catless DP, Perrin TMIC, Stage 2 AP tune Soon after BNR 16G, Infamous Tune
vkchu
to me, 35% looks pretty dark. 50% would be much safer. dont give the gestapo any reason to pull you over, esp w/ the budgetary shortfalls in ny/nj. although having tints is not necessarily enough to pull you over, it opens the door for other infractions. shribob
If cops really wanted to pull you over to give you a ticket for tints, they definitely could. I have many friends that are cops and most would never do that, but like vkchu said, it can lead to other issues. I still want tints on my car (50%) but still haven't because of the aforementioned reasons. Even with a PBA card, don't feel like attracting more attention than I need. NewCarSmell
I guess it's time to apply for my Veteran plates! Though the new one is pretty obnoxious: http://www.dmv.ny.gov/plate-full/usvet-full.jpg<img The GWOT ones are a little better: http://www.plateshack.com/y2k/New_York2/ny-waronterrorvet.jpg<img src=http://www.plateshack.com/y2k/New_York2/ny-waronterrorvet.jpg>
Magic Marker
We put 50% on my fiancee's Volvo and while not dark, you can still tell it's tinted. It has a nice subtle look. 50% is a good way to go especially if you have a dark interior and no sunroof (or you keep the shade closed all the time) Here are some pics. Sorry for the glare. http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll177/jmark42/P1010083.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll177/jmark42/P1010077.jpg http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll177/jmark42/P1010081.jpg 2011 Volvo S60T6 & 2013 Volvo XC60T6 Polestar

06_legacygt
i keep things hanging in the windshield to give them a reason to not give me a moving violation. besides techincally in NJ if you have enough tint tickets in one township the judge can order you to remove the tints. which is b/s IMHO 2006 Legacy GT 5EAT Perrin UP, SPT CAI, OBXR CBE, Catless DP, Perrin TMIC, Stage 2 AP tune Soon after BNR 16G, Infamous Tune

AZP Installs
the yellow throwback plates are terrible too. the statue of liberty plate was fantastic. id pay to put that back on. Except that the statue of liberty is in NJ, hence why they needed to get rid of them i think. I liked my liberty plates as well. -mike http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpghttp://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/141039922.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://upload.pbase.com/image/137566671.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. LouzGT
+1 on 20% but the truth is it all comes down to where you live and if the cops are a**holes about it. Ive been running them for a little over a year now no problems and my car is black on black. Knock on wood.
NewCarSmell
I got 35% installed yesterday at http://www.cnysolarprotection.com/. It looks pretty dark compared to the lighter interiors of cars I've had before. I also debadged last night with the exception of the 3.6R. I desperately need a carwash before I post pictures though, hopefully on the way home tonight.
NewCarSmell
After a little rain, it back doesn't look quite as dirty. I'm really happy with the 35%.
06_legacygt
ya know i knocked on wood but still got a tint ticket this morning on the way to work. The cop actually said he pulled me over just for the tint. I have never been bothered before because my tint is so light. thank you Manchester NJ 2006 Legacy GT 5EAT Perrin UP, SPT CAI, OBXR CBE, Catless DP, Perrin TMIC, Stage 2 AP tune Soon after BNR 16G, Infamous Tune

Third time being pulled over in Queens. lol my boy who is NYPD got pulled for 20% tints in flushing when he was heading home. When the cops saw him in his uniform after he rolled down the window, they just started cracking up and let him go.
