Cyclozene
I have acquired what seems to be the incorrect injectors for my upgrade. I bought some side feed 840cc injectors. Looking at the connections they are the wrong connections so I was given some pigtails that will work. They are also 11.5 ohms. Will I be able to use these if I want to go through the hassle of rewiring them?

Cyclozene
I will upload them when I get home. They are just regular side feeds but the pigtails are different. And the impedance is low. I'll send the tuning sheet as well
frank_ster
you can go to high impedance injectors with out a problem you just can't go the other way around .. ie if you had 4 ohm injectors you can use other 4 ohm or the 12 ohms ones. you may get a check engine light for not expected resistance. but that you could disable. Cyclozene
Arent subaru standard injectors high impedance. Around 18 ohms???? Or is it 14? I have 11 ohm injectors, will this cause a problem. If so what are the signs?
frank_ster
11-16 is fine. Now that's thinking out of the boxer! fyi all 05 + legacy's have built in code reader
Cyclozene
11-16 is fine. Wouldn't they be like a fuse and just 'pop' if under top high of a load
frank_ster
They would blow a fuse or burn the injector driver. Now that's thinking out of the boxer! fyi all 05 + legacy's have built in code reader
GTTuner
You can wire a resistor pack in parallel to all 4 and lower the resistance.
frank_ster
Ants if your new injectors are around 11-16 ohms your fine Now that's thinking out of the boxer! fyi all 05 + legacy's have built in code reader
Cyclozene
I am still quite confused about this. I understand that I can wire in some resistors but that is just a huge PITA! no thanks! frank_ster; are you contradicting! So my 840cc injectors which have a resistance of 11.5 ohms, SHOULD or SHOULD NOT work. I would like to say that they will not work as it is too hot of a load going to them
frank_ster
they will work .. Now that's thinking out of the boxer! fyi all 05 + legacy's have built in code reader
Cyclozene
Ok, are you sure? It just does not make sense how! I am probably over thinking it
frank_ster
check the reistance on your stock injectors Now that's thinking out of the boxer! fyi all 05 + legacy's have built in code reader
Cyclozene
isnt it around 14? or is it 18?
frank_ster
11-16 are high impedance and are easily interchangeable with each other. if you currently have 14 ohm and your new is 11.5 ohm your totally fine. if you originally had 14 ohm and your new ones are 3 ohm you need resistors if you originally had 3ohm and you new ones are 11.5 your fine Now that's thinking out of the boxer! fyi all 05 + legacy's have built in code reader
Cyclozene
Ok great! this makes sense, so there are ranges for low and high impedance injectors. And if I had high impedance and I replace it with another high impedance injector I will be fine. Could there be any problems with them?
frank_ster
lower resistance ones ie 11 ohm take more energy and tend to open faster Now that's thinking out of the boxer! fyi all 05 + legacy's have built in code reader
Cyclozene
so basically the only detrimental thing is I am going to kill my battery faster? But if they open faster will there be problems with idle?
frank_ster
^ uh face palm yes kill you battery .01% faster if your altenator is not working idle problems can be because there is a minumum amount of fuel the injector injects but that would be a problem if you had over 1000 cc injectors. fyi low impedance injectors typically only came on some years of gm cars. they are used in aftermarket for large injectors because they open much faster.
