Santos
Hello! Just came back from getting my Front left CV axle replaced. Was hoping it would get rid of this humming, but no dice. The humming usually starts right as the car begins to move from 0+ mph. I've never heard the hum at speeds over 15MPH. It has also happened when slowing down from 10MPH - 0MPH. At first it only happened on inclines, but with time it started happening on leveled roads as well. The closest I can describe it to is a whale, that kind of drone-styled hum. I can slightly feel it beneath my feet. I occasionally rest my hand on the shift knob and when the humming happens I can feel it through the knob. One of the mechs said it might be the transmission, or differential (center??) Shop said the bearings looked fine in the vehicle. Any ideas? Thanks for any help. EDIT: Also, I did take it back and had the mechanic ride in the car with me. Of course, I wasn't able to reproduce the problem. It doesn't happen so often, but at least once during every driving session. 1999 Legacy sedan AUTO 2.2 -Santos
