rdp2n
I have recently acquired a 1995 Subaru Legacy wagon (BK), 190K. Very nice car -- but it has not been maintained at all and needs some attention. I'm going to replace all the lubricants for starters. 1) However, what other typical maintenance should I do right away? I notice that engine oil is leaking from the top of the engine -- it's pooling a bit and getting down into the spark plug wells. 2) It's not obvious to me (new to Subarus) where this oil might be leaking from, it's pretty much everywhere from top to bottom -- there are significant leaks on both sides. Can anyone list some likely culprit gaskets? 3) Is it possible that the crankcase ventilation system may be blocked after years of neglect (and may be causing the oil leak issues)? How do I service this system? What parts should I replace on that? Much obliged, Rob
subikid90
Most likely it is your valve cover and spark plug seals. The other big leaks are on the cam seals and oil separator plate which is behind the flywheel/flex plate. -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
