Suspension work time. Help/suggestions?

MikeP, as always I tremendously appreciate your input. I have the KB links on my LGT and its at the very lowest setting suggested from the factory for KWv2 and have no banging. Several canyon days AND a track day on them. Also have KB's on the OBXT (OEM struts/springs, with the spacers to make them more paralell).

What is the "banging"? Is it clunking or is it contact banging? The idea of contact freaks me out.

I do find that you have to tq the ever living sh!t out of them to get them tight enough that they do not loosen. For sure when they loosen they clunk. Am I missing something?

I'm not sure how low the KW V2 struts go, but I would think pretty low. We've seen the banging on any and all spring setups beyond a mild drop. Mind you this is with mostly if not all being setup with the Whiteline RSBs. So it could be a perfect storm of WL RSB coupled with KB Rear ELs. What we get is contact of the EL on the LCAs with longer ELs they do not contact the LCAs.

Remember, I have tein h techs I'll be running which is a mild drop. Also, seems there are many with the Hotchkis (Cobb) SB setup that have KB links with no problem so it could be the way the WL sways sit against the KB links in the setups that you've seen. I haven't made any decision yet, but this is good information to ponder over.

That is definitely a distinct possibility on the sway bar design. We have seen several of the hollow sway bars actually rust out and snap, so that may also be a concern as well.

Yes, the Hotchkis are bent far different from the Whiteline.

Any metal with cancer can snap. Hollow bars will rust through faster. That is why I always recomend teflon tape on the bar before the grease and the bushing. When the teflon wears down (4-6 months) replace it. The teflon protects the paint on the bar between the bushing. The paint wearing off is the number 1 cause of cancer under the bushing (the number 1 snapping point).

Yeah, we've not seen solid bars snap, usually because you have more warning before they rust completely through. We are also in the salt-belt so that could be why as well.

PS: One of your custys moved out here and is actually coming to us for service. Coincidentally last week one of our custys moved to LA and they BETTER be going to you for service! :)

Lol. I remember having to replace my teflon tape about every 3 months in NYC.

I sent a NYC member your way earlier today. He lost cyl #4. Could be a piston or a melted exhaust valve. But I gave him your info as a local shop to trust. Rather the car is seen by mechanics that I know and trust then try to diagnose and sell him the wrong parts via the interweb.
