Lulzcow's Build Thread

Recommended Posts

I guess it is best to start chronologically. I bought this car in July of 2011 I believe. It had the EJ25D swapped in (headgaskets done already http://igotasubaru.com/images/smilies/smile.png), with MSD Coilpack and wires, an Exedy stage 1 clutch and lightweight flywheel on the 5MT drivetrain. It also had WRX exhaust and the EGR system deleted.

However, when I went to check it out...it barely ran, the interior reeked like pee, and the brakes were garbage. The guy started closer to $3K in his asking price. I got it for $1300. Driving it home was interesting, as the car would redline at about 3500 RPM, and if you rev it to the limit it will kick itself out of gear.

After joining my local Subaru club, I met the guy who actually built the motor. It has 96' HLA heads, and I believe a 98 block. Supposedly the internals are almost all new, and it had been bored a little and polished up by a machine shop I believe.

Anyways, as soon as I got the car home, I had the front pads and rotors replaced. Have since had to replace crankshaft position sensor, both O2 sensors, ECU, shorten exhaust, re-tap a head, "patch" the catalyic converter, flush and fill both diffs, switch to Royal Purple full synthetic oil, replace belts, remove an extra o-ring from a fuel injector, replace intake manifold and throttle body gaskets, redo whole vacuum system, replace the battery, replace E-brake, clean MAF, and run Seafoam through the motor.

Thanks lol. Progress might be slow but I'll update as it goes.

Home carpet shampoo works wonders, especially if you do all of the interior multiple times lol. It really looks and feels clean and smells quite pleasant lol
