Clutch pedal issues, please help

I recently replaced my clutch. After only a couple hundred miles, I had a problem. When I push the clutch, the pedal goes to the floor and stays there. I can easily pop it back up by hand. I have a cable clutch, and there is another cable that returns the clutch fork to it's normal position. If I manually push the clutch fork toward the firewall (engaging the clutch), it pops right back when I let go. So the clutch return cable seems to work. However, if I push the clutch pedal in, then go under the hood and manually pull the clutch fork toward the front of the car (disengaging the clutch) it pulls very hard. What could be the problem? I'm baffled, and I really need help on this one. Thank you!
