06_lgt_mi
Hey, new here but not to modifying cars. Just picked up an 06 GT and been browsing all the threads on the swap and been searching around online at all the place I know of for used car parts. Was wondering if people had any better ideas of places online to find a used 2007-2009 head unit with the automated climate controls? From the other threads the specific model is part # 86201ag67a and has the model # P204-UH on the faceplate.
goneskiian
Did you try looking for a new one? These are just plain hard to find. I have one in my '05 wagon but I got it new and quite a few years ago. Good luck!
mr.hicksta
I'll be removing mine (08) to install my system in a couple months. If you're still looking by mid December perhaps we could work something out.
KoukiS14
I searched google for "auto salvage yard" and found one out of an '08 Outback with an XM tuner included for $130! It was scratched slighly more than my stocker, but works perfectly!
06_lgt_mi
Yea, just found one late last night on ebay. shipped today and I will post up pictures after I get it in. Got it for $135 + shipping, also was able to score an ipod interface kit for $30. Now just waiting on them to get here and hopefully put them both in this weekend. zmarko
Parts came in and now just gotta wait till the weekend when I have free time. http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x254/top_gun27/PB022457.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x254/top_gun27/PB022458.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x254/top_gun27/PB022459.jpg Congrats. It honestly only takes about 15 mins start to finish if you're just swapping one out for the other. Remember to eject your CD's in your current head unit first before disconnecting. 06_lgt_mi
Ya, I took it apart a little today just to see how hard it would be. I get out of work early tomorrow so that is when I plan on doing the swap. Will post up when I get it swapped out.
zmarko
It's seriously so easy, you'll wonder why you didn't do it at night in your driveway with a philips screwdriver and a flashlight.
06_lgt_mi
Ya looking at all the guides and assembly schematics it looks a lot easier than any other radio installs I have seen. Just had other plans already tonight otherwise I would have done it today. Looking forward to having the ipod back as my main sound source and once I get a few other things done on the car I may just have to start swapping out the speakers and adding an amp to accommodate the better speakers. Bbc84
Too bad its not easy to put a aftermarket double radio in
06_lgt_mi
Ya that is why I went this route with staying with the stock unit. Did not want to spend a lot of time on it right now. Might rethink it later but for now I just really wanted the ipod hookup so I can live with the stock unit for at least a while.

06_lgt_mi
I got a real steal of a deal on an actual Subaru iPod integration unit that hooks up in the satellite radio input. But if I keep this radio for good I am gonna look more into putting just a 3.5mm auxiliary input in the same location as the 07-09. And just got done with the swap. Forgot to snap some pics in the process but here is the finished product. Sounds great and definitely see what people were talking about with the lag between tracks when you hit the skip button. http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x254/top_gun27/PB042463.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x254/top_gun27/PB042461.jpg
