PearlBlueGT
I have quite a bit of ticking coming from passenger side of engine bay. Subaru mechanic said that cleaning injectors would help. Anyone else have done injector cleaning service. Usually it's like $60-100 service but I found a shop that does $14/injector service and it's like 10 mins away from me. How hard is it to take them off?
bighaus90
They aren't too bad to get to. just make sure you are gentle and don't break them while pulling them out.
frank_ster
ticking ? and cleaning stopping them from ticking ? uh ? i could be wrong but i don't think cleaning them will stop them from ticking. and the ticking your sure is from injectors not the noisy valve train ? is your car running like shit at wot ? if not i wouldn't touch the injectors Now that's thinking out of the boxer! fyi all 05 + legacy's have built in code reader

Engine is brand new, new short block, rebuilt heads, all new gaskets, belt/pump, oil pump. I know how noise valvetrain sounds. Injectors do tick when they open/close Why do they have service that cleans injectors then? And no it's not pouring a can of STP in your tank. You actually take injectors off and they put it on machine and flow test/clean them http://www.ptrsds.com/injectservice.html Yes, there's sock inside fuel tank but it doesn't clean all of the stuff off, there's still minuscule particles that get past the sock and with time (let's say 94K like on my car) they plug up tiny injector holes
BigTDogg MA
Don't we have fuel filters? Removing injectors and cleaning them with flow testing is legit. Dealer injector cleaning magic is snake oil, IMHO.
SSpeed
Usually they use BG products in those machines... if you really HAVE to do it, get a can of BG 44k and try that... quite a bit of ticking probably isn't injectors...
