Tinman Posted August 29, 2011 Share Posted August 29, 2011 Took my Suby in for 150K maintenance. The mechanic told me my head gasket is leaking. Oil in my coolant. Told me the best thing to do is sell the car before it goes out on me. I love my Legacy but don't want to be stuck with high cost repairs. What would it cost to repair blown gaskets? Has anyone ever tried using a sealer to prevent/repair blown gasket? Do these chemicals really work? My coolant levels are fine so I think I am okay for now. Don't think the mechanic had any reason to lie to me, not like he was selling me to repair the car at his shop. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
jonmorris555 Posted October 22, 2011 Share Posted October 22, 2011 It works somewhat if you dont use a lot of the stuff or pour it all in at once, and furthermore you are doing more damage to your car in the long run because that sealer stuff will clog your coolant passages then causing further damamge that will need to be repaired, I would suggest searching for a local mech that would do a HG job for a lower price.
