mike2225
I have a friend who owns and exhaust shop and i had him make me a custom 3" cat back using my prodrive mufflers and ive been driving the car around and it feels like i lost a little bit of power over the stock catback. Is this normal?? I assumed bigger piping would free up back pressure and give it a little more power.
W1CKED
How much power?
mike2225
Not much but i do notice in 1st and 2nd at low rpms it doesnt pull as hard as it used too..The only thing i can think of there may be a very small leak were the stock DP meets with the 3" flange
TRSCobra
Post turbo exhaust leaks won't affect power.
mike2225
Its weird it feels like there is more back pressure than stock but i do love the way it sounds
WhiskeyTango
Was the loss of hp measured on the butt dyno?
SSpeed
The stock catback isn't bad for power, depending on how good your friend is fabricating maybe you've hurt flow? Freeing backpressure will have a more pronounced effect closer to the turbine.
whitetiger
bigger piping after the cats (catback)wont do anything if you still have the stock DP and cats still in the system. does the OP have stage 2 mods or is this just a catback on a otherwise stock car. mike2225
yes it was...I was looking for a perrin mid/y pipe or something comparable but for the $50 i paid for the catback and they welded in an o2 sensor bung i decided to let my friend make a custom one

natecr
anytime you change a part that doesn't quite require a tune. air filter to high flow. cb... up pipe.. reset your computer... sometimes that helps a lot if she relearns a few things as they have changed.
