Would the factory stereo system in an '11 Legacy 2.5i be powerful enough to run a 10" subwoofer or would I be better to buy an amp? I have the 6 CD Harman Kardon setup. garbo41610 Posted July 14, 2011 Share Posted July 14, 2011 Does the "Harman Kardon" set up in the USDM Legacy's have an external amp or are they all run off the head units internal amplifier? If it does then it is possible but you will be only running the sub of around 35wRMS so the sub will have to be very efficient to get any sort of volume, and the signal will be heavily EQ'd which can cause additional problems. If the "Harman Kardon" set up doesn't have an external amplifier then it will make things a lot more difficult. A dedicated amp is always preferable for sub duties.
