stoggy Posted July 4, 2011 Share Posted July 4, 2011 So I bought a new set of H&R springs (PN 29443) and was given a set of new OEM struts from a buddy. Can I put the new lowering springs right on the OEM struts without replacing top hats? I read a few install guides and they all use GR-2 struts with STi top hats. I wondered if the STi top hats only apply to the GR-2's only or not. I've put lowering springs on stock struts on other vehicles I just need to know if the same goes for Subaru's or not. sixspeedlegacy Posted July 6, 2011 Share Posted July 6, 2011 from what I have read you need impreza spring perches because its the spring shape that is tapered at the top. I got the springs yesterday and took a quick peek under the wheel well and the Legacy stock springs are definitely not tapered.
