Brady
I'm thinking more and more seriously about selling the LGT and replacing it with a 911 cab. I have a company car for work (AWD Taurus) so I really have no need for 2 AWD sedans at my disposal, and thus haven't driven the LGT in two years. I just don't like not owning my own vehicle. Makes me feel icky. No matter how irrational. I seem to think having a convertible will inspire me to drive more often. And I've been a Porschephile most of my life ... so this is where my mind is going. So I'm really torn between the last true 911 with the nearly bulletproof 3.2 and G50 gearbox, and the last aircooled 911 with the (less reliable?) 3.6 and 6 speed gearbox. Anyone have any experience or input regarding the two? As I get a little closer to being really ready to pull the trigger, I'll be joining PCA (they have a trial for folks looking for their first Porsche) and doing more searching there. ehsnils
I think that you first should look at which one that is easiest to handle since some models of Porsche are like teasing a snake - suddenly it bites back with a vengeance. In general more modern chassies are better since the set-up tries to avoid the extremes. And it may come with a VDC system too. Older Porsches can be really naughty. Brady
I haven't yet driven a 993. I've driven an '87 911 Cab plenty. I could go with a 996 for cheaper than the 993, but that body style and, well, the whole configuration just doesn't appeal to me. I'm not looking for a car to drive hard (thus the convertible). I'm looking for a FUN car to drive when it's nice, and I've always happened to like the little cars from Stuttgart.

Brady
I figured you'd end up in this thread, bdisco! I'm actually slightly partial to the looks of the 993, but have a deep fondness for the original design of the 911. Part of me would rather have a 60's 911 if I were to go that direction, but if I had the means to acquire one of those, a 997 would also be a consideration right now. The wife did get me a raffle ticket for father's day though. http://www.youtube.com/user/PCAHQ#p/a/u/0/_okUhK2lyug

Brady
I said no matter how irrational. It's a personal thing. And are you meaning to tell me that you have an LGT for your company provided vehicle?!
