Thread Hijacked!!!

Oh, and don't think that I'm disregarding your advice, because I'm not.

 I'm not an expert so don't take my criticism to directly!!

Heeeeeellllllll nooooo. Direct sunlight is the absolute worst thing to shoot in do to the shadows its creates, and makes it hard to impossible to move the shadows effectively without over exposing the subject. All of the pictures I took were in RAW as well, I always take Jpeg + Raw when I shoot. RAW doesn't matter though, it's simply the data that's on the camera before adjustments to internal camera functions are made, with the exception of the shutter speed and f-stop.

Shooting with both is nearly just taking up space on your card! Its dumb and unneccsary! Especially when your doing all the post processing your doing.

RAW is much more then that!! (quoted for emphasis)

It's not an image file per se (it will require special software to view, though this software is easy to get).

• at least 8 bits per color – red, green, and blue (12-bits per X,Y location), though most DSLRs record 12-bit color (36-bits per location).

uncompressed (an 8 megapixel camera will produce a 8 MB Raw file).

• the complete (lossless) data from the camera’s sensor.

higher in dynamic range (ability to display highlights and shadows).

• lower in contrast (flatter, washed out looking).

• not as sharp.

• not suitable for printing directly from the camera or without post processing.

• read only (all changes are saved in an XMP “sidecar” file or to a JPEG or other image format).

waiting to be processed by your computer.

The whole Raw/ jpeg debate could be an entire thread on its own but which would you rather have process your photos? Your camera or your computer? Guess which has more processing power? Shooting in Raw will give you much more control over how your image looks and even be able to correct several sins you may have committed when you took the photograph, such as the exposure, and a few other common mistakes.

Just a hint of my other work:

But you see. I shoot in both because sometimes I feel lazy and don't want to process everything and i settle for how they look as is due to the processing that i do on the camera (little that there is). Amazing shots! I do know that RAW is superior in every aspect to processing, I'm saying that I don't process my image that much as to alter the shadows from the sun. The reason I like/prefer garage lighting is due to the fact that its white light vs. yellow light.

You don't have to process every RAW image, just importing it into a program of your choice and exporting it as JPEG is sometimes all that is needed.

If you don't ever plan to print directly off the camera, the need to shoot in JPEG is pretty much moot with todays technology.

White/ Yellow light? Do you know how to set the white balance on your camera? I was always told to carry around a piece of computer paper around, but some people do it differently.

Hmm, but do you get the principle that since the sun is always angled the shadows created are not always even? That's why I actually prefer shooting on a slightly cloudy day or at dawn/dusk.

Yeah, The white balance was set to hmmm sunlight lol (5200k).

That bike is so badass.

No, not Sunday! Two-year anniversary of my first date with my fiancee! She'll have a cow! Maybe we could do midday Saturday? Would that work?

EDIT: Damn you, tsunami!!!!

P.S. If I can come, I'm bringing my work-issue D7000...

The body definitely makes a difference. A lens only does so much. If you want to shoot at night or in a theater, a 70-200 f/2.8 at ISO 400 on a Nikon D60 will give worse performance than a 70-200 f/4-5.6 at ISO 5000 on a D7000.
