ehsnils Posted June 12, 2011 Share Posted June 12, 2011 In Finland they have a few unusual sports. 1st & 2nd of July the world championship in Wife Carrying is held in Sonkajärvi.World Championship in Swamp Football is held in Hyrynsalmi 15th & 16th of July.Snowball throwing competition in Karleby the 16th of July. (hey - it's not supposed to be snow around then)Summer world championship in Ice Fishing the 25th to 31st of July.World championship in swamp volleyball 30th and 31st of July.World championship in iron rod walk. Similar to Nordic Walking, but with rods weighing in at 6.2 kilograms each. Held in Mustiala the 20th of August.World championship in chili eating in Tammerfors 20th to 21st of August.Gum boot throwing and Mobile Phone throwing also exists. Of course - there are other odd sports around too, like Caber Toss.
