NSFW
This is a BBC documentary about the evolution of safety standards in Grand Prix racing in the 60s and early 70s. It's sad and amazing at the same time. ehsnils
Remember that in the early years right after WWII one driver was asked about the dangers and he answered that for the first time in six years nobody was shooting at them. The real safety evolution started in the late 70's and today when someone crashes they almost always leaves the car, take a trip back to the pit and starts to get ready for the next race. It has been an amazing evolution - from one of the most dangerous sports to one of the safest.
