CzarDestructo
So I’ve been noticing for the last few months that my car, on some days, has an issue with the idle RPM detection. Only when my car is in gear if I feather the throttle in traffic the RPMs have a tendency to droop a little too low when returning to idle and the car stutters a second and the RPMs pick back up and everything is fine. What could cause this, possibly an aging sensor, gummed up throttle body, maybe it’s the transmission itself, etc? Any thoughts? 2008 Legacy 2.5i, 4EAT, approximately 90k miles
burnout8488
This happens to all of us at one time or another. Usually only when the car is cold.
Monwells
My legacy does this when its cold. Drop it into Neutral when you stop and it all goes away.
TRSCobra
I'm not too familiar with newer subarus, but I'd check/clean the throttle body and especially the idle air control valve. If the IAC gets clogged up, the engine will get choked a bit when you first let off the gas, then when the computer senses the low idle speed, it opens it up more to prevent it from stalling. Also could be a torque converter lockup issue.
