Did you tighten the top nut all the way?

Just don't overtighten,the top nut threads strip very easily.

 

I didn't mean the strut top nuts (the 3 in the engine bay), but that's a good point. Those unfamiliar might not know about the 14.7ft-lb limit on those studs.

 

I was talking about the nut that holds the hat to the strut. If that is loose, you'll get one hell of a clunk. It'll sound like your car is going to fall apart.
