xero287
Sorry for the double posting but .. I'm stuck. Hey everyone, I have a set of 06 lgt struts that im putting in my 05 lgt. I cannot seem to fit all three studs of the top hat into the holes in the body of the car. The most I can get is 2 out of 3. I was wondering if the 06 and 05 have very VERY slightly different top hats. I can swap out my top hats onto the 06 struts (reason being because the 06 struts have better springs on them), but I dont know where to go to do this for cheap. I started this at 11 am this morning so one can only imagine my dismay. Thanks,Riyaad
Shawn06SpecB
hmmm...I highly doubt any changes were made between those models. are you 100% sure they don't fit?
06Limited
You could take to struts to the DIY garage (note the thread in a couple before this) and switch out the top hats. I agree with Shawn though, as the top hats should be the same.
Drift Motion
did you try switching the left and right side?
BAC5.2
The part number for the left and right side is the same. Impulse
i think what drift motion means is that the top hats are angled a bit relative to the shock body. / vs \ if he tried putting the wrong side in it'll never match up flush
I Donated thefultonhow Posted March 1, 2011 I Donated Share Posted March 1, 2011 The tophats should be set up in such a way that they will only line up at one angle. Just rotate them around until all three bolts line up.

Nah, they aren't. When I did my coilover install (and almost anyone who has done one), you can swap the L and R plates then rotate them to give additional caster. I had mine set up for 9.5 degrees of caster (more than double the stock caster). It was sick.
