As part of the American International Toy Fair in New York this week, Hasbro parked Optimus Prime, the hero of the “Transformers” movie series, on 41st Street near 8th Avenue in front of The TimesCenter, where Hasbro is displaying its line of toys.

This is the tractor-trailer version of Optimus; few cues suggest the imposing robot lurking within that inflicts so much pain on the bad guys. The truck — all chrome, blue and red, with the telltale Autobot face stamped on the front of the cab and the trailer’s sides — is huge, of course, at 70 feet long and almost 9 feet wide. Traffic on 41st barely manages to get around it, especially when fans were in the street taking pictures.

Hasbro says it’s one of the trucks used in the third film in the series, “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” which opens July 1.

Although Optimus is pretty agile in the movies, the truck didn’t get to New York from the Los Angeles area under its own power, arriving instead on Friday night on two flatbeds, one for the cab and the other for the trailer. It will head back to California on Monday night in the same fashion.

“It’s only drivable on a movie set,” said Julie Duffy, a spokeswoman for Hasbro, which created the Transformers toy franchise in 1984. “It’s not street legal.”

And it also may not have been legally parked. Ms. Duffy wrote in an e-mail that although Hasbro “secured all of the appropriate permits through the city,” the truck received a $115 parking ticket on Saturday.

No word yet on whether Hasbro is planning to pay the ticket or just turn the problem over to the Autobots to resolve.

They don't screw around with parking tickets anymore in the city. My uncle is a 2 star chief in NYPD, when my aunt (his wife) got a parking ticket he told her to just pay it.

Its huge income for the city so no more free passes for anyone.
