ljshein
The reverse lights on my 98 Legacy GT are not working. This is an automatic car. Replaced bulbs, verified the fuse and no success. My research suggests that the switch is different on the manual trans vs. the automatic. There seems to be a switch on the side of the tranny for the manuals and the automatics have the switch in the gear selector in the console? Is that correct? Is there a procedure to test the switch in the automatic? What is the switch called / where would I find the part number? thanks in advance! subikid90
You are going in the right direction. I forget what the switch is called for an auto and where it is located. Downloads this factory service manual and it will give you all of the details about finding it, diagnosing it and replacing it. http://www.main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/1999_Legacy_FSM/ It says 99 but it is the same -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
