Lojasmo
Well, driving to the slopes yesterday, I hear a tremendous squeal. Pull over, pop the hood, and see smoke coming from the front drivers side, front. Immediately, the belt fell off (melted by the crank pulley.) I suspect the clutch bearing fried. Replace the clutch/bearing, or the whole thing, which would require a refrigerant flush? Tia.
GTTuner
Huh? Tremendous squeal= some smoke=melted crank pulley and a clutch bearing? A/C really has nothing to do with those failures. Elaborate?
Lojasmo
The condensor wheel seized. The clutch is completely oxidized. The belt jumped the condenser pulley, and jammed in the guard, freezing the belt, and causing it to melt against the spinning crank pulley. I cannot get the condenser clutch off. Will replace the condenser with a remanufactured unit in the spring.
