I had lost my AP and before I flash my infamous tune I want to flash the vehicle back to stock with another AP that i purchased because the computer that had my stock map has also crashed. If you didn't flash back to stock before you lost your AP then that AP is still "married" to your ECU and it won't communicate with another AP. At least that's how I understand it. You may have to send your ECU to COBB to have that missing AP "unmarried" (or disconnected) before you can connect a new AP to it. Maybe I'm wrong though. I'm sure others will chime in, possibly someone with COBB. I'd contact COBB though, tell them what happened and they'll be able to tell you what you need to do. Cheers! I posted this problem on cobb's forum and travis is the one that suggested I atleast borrow someones AP to do this, I couldn't find anyone local so I just purchased a used one.
