2003 Head Gasket - Extended Warranty

A week ago, we bought a used 2003 Legacy L Sedan with 80k miles. When purchasing, I asked the seller if there where any problems with the Head Gaskets, which he said there was not. Well it turns out that the seller was told by the dealer that the HGs were leaking before he sold it to me. I will be calling SOA on Monday to see if they will pay for it. If they won't, the seller and I have come to an agreement that we will split the cost (about $900 each) to get it done.

 

But in thinking about paying for it, I thought of a possible plan. What about buying an extended warranty? If I bought it now, for about the same price as getting the HG done, would it be covered and would they pay for it? And if I do, which should I buy - from Subaru, or something like WarrantyDirect.
