Draco-REX
So, was waiting at a red light and WHAM! a woman nailed my spec.B. I heard the impact more than I felt it. It's surprising how well the car did it's job. It's jsut corner damage, and the car was driveable once I applied some leg muscle, a 6' come-along, tow-strap, and jack handle to the bent up exhaust and sway bar mounts. So I don't think it'll be totaled. However. When I got back into the car, the driver's seat was reclned slightly from where I usually have it. I moved the seatback via the control and it moved fine. But when I hit the preset button, it returned to the new slightly reclined position. So my question is this: Does the seatback recline slightly in the event of a rear-end collision in order to absorb some of the impact? And if so, does the seat need to be replaced after this safety feature is used? I fired off the same questions to SoA. So I hope to get a reply. But I thought I'd pick the LegacyGT.com community's collective brain. Thanks!
dsickles
sounds like your seat bent to absorb some of the impact. This safety feature is pretty standard these days.
Draco-REX
Yeah. I'm going to push to have it replaced. If the seatback is returning to the new position, then something has to have changed in the mechanism.
