torinalth Posted January 3, 2011 Share Posted January 3, 2011 ok, so now that I have diagnosed my smoking problem to being the grease from the CV joint.... I can now fix the issue. the boot seems to be in good shape... no tears and seems to be very pliable still. the large strap that holds the boot to the green part of the axle is loose apparently, and that is where the grease is coming from. think I'd be fine to just get a new strap and secure it tightly? or do you think I need to pull the axle, dis assemble, clean, regrease, and then reassemble with the new strap? also, if I reuse everything I kinda wanna toss some more grease into the boot rfom what was lost... any specific type to use for that specifically?
