Mach V Dan
are these available without the peak/set buttons? No. But I suppose you could set the gauges up how you want and then tuck the wired remote away behind them somewhere. --Dan Mach V FastWRX.com
KCwagon
After I saw these gauges installed I...well...had to have one. The electric stepper motor and start-up are very cool. I mounted the gauge switch on the side of the steering column above the cruise control stalk, which fits like a glove. Thanks Mach V for the lightning quick shipping. DocHolladay23
god those look awesome, did the gauge come with any kind of mounting pod? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] You want stickers? Hit me up here!!! You want a shirt? Hit me up here!!!
KCwagon
Yeah, the gauge came with the mounting pod, vacuum line, sending unit, wiring etc. The cool thing about where I mounted it is that the gauge itself is very shallow. It was a breeze to install. Its definitely $100 well spent. Here is a pic of what is included: http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss178/shoneal55esp/fastwrx_2137_26196062.gif Here is a pic that shows the controls mounted on the steering column: http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss178/shoneal55esp/g4.jpg
RedDawg
cool, that exactly what i needed to see, the wiring. so it'd be possible, with extending the wires, to mount the little controller down in the ashtray location.

Yes, if you cut and spliced the wires you could put it anywhere you like. The existing wiring for the controller is about 4 inches long.

Phishman05
Just finish installing these in my '05 center cubby. Super easy wiring (Power, ACC Power, Ground all to clock. Headlight switch power from cubby light) then you can daisy chain them together. This was my first gauge install and I have to say BIG THANKS to this forum and NASIOC for having all the info needed. Both gauges lit right up first time and have been reading exactly as expected from looking at boost/pressure readings other have reported. Do not believe the "prosports are crap" postings, just someone who didn't take the time to research before install. The only thing I have to say was a PITA was the fact that the door required some major surgery to close. Do not attempt to go the cubby pod route if you're afraid to shave some plastic!!!! Cheers, R
jaxx4k
where did you tap for your boost source on the boost gauge?
Mega Users LieutenantDan Posted February 9, 2011 Mega Users Share Posted February 9, 2011 The best place is to splice the vacuum hose that attaches to the nipple on the BPV (Bypass Valve located on the intercooler). Most boost gauges come with a plastic "T"http://jsalmi.com/car/boostgauge/08_T_in_bov_hose.jpg
spartan
I have my gauges wired up, but my battery died last night and I got sick of messing with it in -2* weather. Hoping to get the boost gauge run in the next week or so, then I will run the oil pressure next time I change the oil (sandwhich adapter). I will try to get some pictures up tonight. 05SilverScubie
I got the boost gauge for my Spec too and I must say....it's a must have! I mounted it using the 2 gauge windshield mount shown in the video Mach V Dan put up. It's for a newer WRX but with a little shaving, I got it to mount snug just right of the rear view mirror (I will put up pics a lil later). I used power from the dome light/seat belt light (i'll take pics if I can get it apart easy) so everything is clean. I will also add I used a T as shown in the pic above, I reccomend clamping the hose to the T :-/
MDKSDMF
i just ordered one of these (mechanical) for soo cheap! im still debating on where to mount it as i ordered the swivel POD for just ten bucks. Leaning towards the half of the drivers side cubby tho.
09DgmLGT
How dim do these gauges get at night? I understand they have 6 step brightness setting and you can set it to the desired setting. I like the red backlighting; I miss the orange/red that my 01 Prelude had. Anyway, I have a Omori boost gauge mounted on my steering column and it's wired to the clock so it doesn't dim; which is annoying. Any pictures or thoughts would be great.
