Tracer-X
I just installed an IXIZ Air Oil Separator this weekend. What a PAIN! The instructions are awful! There aren’t any complete write ups either. It took 7 hours for me to install this. I have never done anything like this before and had to make one trip to the auto parts store in the middle. I could probably do it in 3-4 hours now that I’ve done it once. I had to buy several items at the auto parts store to make this work as I deleted my PCV valve while I was at it. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Tracer-X/Legact%20GT/IXIZ%20AOSep/1.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Tracer-X/Legact%20GT/IXIZ%20AOSep/2.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Tracer-X/Legact%20GT/IXIZ%20AOSep/3.jpg This part gets discarded. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Tracer-X/Legact%20GT/IXIZ%20AOSep/4.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Tracer-X/Legact%20GT/IXIZ%20AOSep/5.jpg I just ran the supplied new hose from the drivers side head vent all the way across and trimmed it later once I figured out how long I wanted it.http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Tracer-X/Legact%20GT/IXIZ%20AOSep/6.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Tracer-X/Legact%20GT/IXIZ%20AOSep/7.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Tracer-X/Legact%20GT/IXIZ%20AOSep/8.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Tracer-X/Legact%20GT/IXIZ%20AOSep/9.jpg I put this bolt in the hole and used a hose clamp to keep it air tight. Kinda ghetto but it was easier to do this then to take the hose out and install a cap over the nipple, it was tight in there.http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Tracer-X/Legact%20GT/IXIZ%20AOSep/10.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Tracer-X/Legact%20GT/IXIZ%20AOSep/11.jpg To get this stubby piece of 3/4" hose out you'll have to get some diagonal cutters down there to cut the crimped on hose clamp off. I reinstalled it w/o using a clamp to secure it.http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Tracer-X/Legact%20GT/IXIZ%20AOSep/12.jpg I trimmed all of the nipples used in this picture by about 1/4" on each side to keep the stack from getting too high. Also, as mentioned in the picture, I re-purposed a hose from one of the head vents by cutting it a lot shorter because it was a 1/2" hose, like the nipples, and flared up to 5/8" on one end. It kept me from using another nipple keeping the hose short as it needed to be.http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Tracer-X/Legact%20GT/IXIZ%20AOSep/13.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Tracer-X/Legact%20GT/IXIZ%20AOSep/14.jpg If I had some sort of hose cover that would protect the lines from heat I would have wrapped the drain line from the AOSep to the crank drain.http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Tracer-X/Legact%20GT/IXIZ%20AOSep/15.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Tracer-X/Legact%20GT/IXIZ%20AOSep/16.jpg Jump on it, Let's do it, Ride it, My Pony... NSFW
That reminds me, I need to print up a "WESTERN DIGITAL" label for mine. Nice write-up!

rkl303
Appreciate the writeup. The install guides from Ixiz seems of little value compared to this. Hope its an exactly same install on my STI. Is this install method similar to the crawford method where it removes the pcv valve? http://www.iwsti.com/forums/2-5-liter-litre-factory-motor/146699-official-sti-engine-venting-o-separators-catch-cans-thread.html
Tracer-X
I don't remember the Crawford method but I think that they were similar. I did take out my PCV. Jump on it, Let's do it, Ride it, My Pony... EL4NFZT7
NSFW
Yes, "crawford method" in that thread refers to the no-PCV method. I did my AOSep the same way.

sumfoo1
where does the line coming off the metal nipple on the PCV that got plugged with a bolt go?? I left the PCV in place and connected it to the same line i have the head breathers connected to, that goes to the grim speed style air oil separator which then has the vacuum line connected to the turbo inlet pipe connected to it so it all should be under vacuume.. but i did not remove the ccv nor did i plug the metal nippled line that comes off of it.
