KGracey
I've been searching around and can only find info on the 08/09's. Is there a way to remove the chrome from inside, outer edge of the tail light? I have it pulled out of the car, but it looks like (and I have a feeling that) the lens is sealed and theres no way inside. Anyone have insight on this? I think the chrome is cheesy, but i'd like to keep the red instead of tinting them.
underpowerd
they are sealed, so bit of a venture to get into. maybe a subtle tint like this might satisfy you? subdues the chrome, and turns that fire-engine red a nice deep ruby. these are 7% lamin-x 'tint' color. http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w102/duluoz_01/IMG_0191copy.jpg http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w102/duluoz_01/IMG_0190.jpg
Drift Motion
^ I really like the way they look this? http://www.lamin-x.com/Subaru-Legacy-05-07-Tail-Light-Covers-p/s209.htm @OP you can try baking them open just like the headlights
underpowerd
^thanx! very pleased with them. i got mine from a vendor on-site, but the link looks like an identical product. i don't know of anyone successfully baking tails, but a few have dremeled them open to do things like led and clearing/painting, then resealed them various ways. the threads are out there. Drift Motion
i know of two person who modded their tails, so I'm sure it can be opened and how much did you pay for the flim? $60 bucks is too much IMO I just want a very light tint, and I dont want to do VHT spray thats "irreversible"
KGracey
Yea the tint isn't bad, but the $60 hurts a little bit. I thought about baking them too. Sucks theres not an easy way to get rid of it :/
underpowerd
Drift: that's cool to know about the baking. i agree the price is a bit tough to swallow. got mine quite a while ago, back then i think they were only like 45 beans. i will say the quality is impressive though; very thick, and bulletproof adhesive. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/lamin-x-protective-films-stock-sale-71215.html?t=71215
CB-M3
did you cover the whole tail light or leave out the turn-signal section? Some of the ones I've seen tinted people left out the turn-signal area.
underpowerd
these are the full cover; i've seen the cutout ones in the 'tint' color, they are sexy. there's a thread with pics of a gent's install on a red sedan somewhere.
GTTuner
You can open up the tail lights with a dremel but it takes some time and patience.
TSiWRX
You can open up the tail lights with a dremel but it takes some time and patience. ^ Yup, IIRC, the tails on the BL are not a bake-and-open proposition: it's plastic-welded, and you'll need to Dremel cut. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/pics-my-modded-tailights-149755.html http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/led-tail-lights-work-progress-107622p12.html <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family

LosAngelesLGT
not true i've re-done mine numerous times, just use paint thinner and then buff with compound, Or a similar solvelnt. Even orange oil should work. I too did this a million times (on my old honda - have not done the LGT yet but that 7% is LOOKING GOOD now that my headlights are blackened)
