2005gt35r
my dads car fouled another plug....hopefully. same symptoms, cruise light blinking, check engine light on, running like crap. is this common to happen in these cars? im fixing it tomorrow in school so its not that big of a pain. the last time i replaced a plug in it, the plug i got out was not a plug that was recommended for the car, also the threads were alot longer than the new spark plugs. could this be the cause? frank_ster
Could be. But plug fouling could be faulty coil or low compression on that cylinder. FYI always check the length of spark plugs!!!! Now that's thinking out of the boxer! fyi all 05 + legacy's have built in code reader
jfg22557
ensure your not using a plug coded for a 2.5i (non-turbo). I cant recall which is which, but the different length plugs determine their application ( 2.5T or 2.5i). Mistaking an n/a plug for a turbo plug will undoubtedly cause misfiring and general "running like crap" as you said. hope this helped -Jake
ehsnils
Many factors that can foul a plug, but it's also how it's fouled. Is it plain soot or is there oil residue? No oil is a good sign, and then you should check coil, injector and valve clearance and also check compression figures in case there is a burnt/damaged valve. GTTuner
NA plugs are designated with a "11" at the end of the part number. Some guys use then and close up the gap because the 11 denotes wide gap.
ehsnils
And "11" means 1.1 millimeters.
