Drift Motion
pop out single DIN HU with nav cubby mount
GotTurboWut
Prefer not to have a pop up screen. Rather have a solid unit and if at all possible, keep the time/temp display.
brum
Maybe possible. Doubtful though. there is a relocation kit for the time/temp display down to the cigarette lighter pop out drawer. If not then good luck...it'll be small.
GotTurboWut
Looking for something similiar to this... http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/custom-install-sony-nv-u83t-navigation-98273.html?t=98273&highlight=cubby+nav+install Kept clock/temp cluster. Now, just a nav that has other features, e.g. radio, mp3, usb, aux in, etc.
bsquarewi
Interested to hear what you come up with. I've also been reading endlessly here for a simple, all inclusive solution without spending too much $$$ for a complete double-din head unit swap. I like this one as a starting point with a bit of finishing off to seal it in and make it look more "factory": http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/garmin-nuvi-255w-installed-cubby-3-142526.html?t=142526&highlight=nuvi Right now I'm thinking about a Garmin Nuvi unit like this one above that has both bluetooth for phone and MP3 capability wired into the Aux-in jack in the armrest. However, for whatever reason, it seems that the newer Garmin Nuvi units are no longer coming with MP3 capability. So I may end up just using a "Y" adapter into the Aux-in to keep the GPS and an iPod hooked up at the same time. Then I'd just end up leaving the stereo set to "Aux" all the time. For now, this just seems like the least expensive route while still gaining the added functions I'm looking for (GSP, hands-free phone, MP3). GotTurboWut
Will this http://reviews.cnet.com/car-gps-navigation/pioneer-avic-u310bt/4505-3430_7-33712797.html Fit in the cubby w/o removing time/temp? I see a lot of people have bought the avo/jdm single din/double din...however, also read where someone bought a universal (f150) mounting bracket and fabbed something up to fit? Goal: Nav and mp3, outs to sub/amp.
GotTurboWut
I see what he did...does give the option for mp3 via gps but I want a receiver as well that has outs for sub and amp. Really don't want to move the time and temp. Anyone have the Pioneer Avic gps/receiver units????
Madjik_Man
Silly ancillary question here.... Would a cubby mounted unit like you're look for overheat due to the cubby getting very warm with minimal/no ventilation?
GotTurboWut
Good question but...many have mounted gps's, single/double din h/u's, gauges, etc there w/o issues.
siim
Solved problem this way: http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3000701&postcount=186 The cubby does not get hot or anything regarding the question about ventilating issues. Clock/temp is moved to ashtray location with the help of relocation bracket.
