carnumber19
Looks to be leaking fluid where the trans meets the center diff, and possibly where the trans meets the motor. It doesn't look like any gaskets go in there, could this be failing seals?
BAC5.2
You definitely aren't leaking where the transmission meets the motor, there isn't any fluid in there. There is a gasket (if the transmission hasn't been rebuilt before). The only real fix is to drop the transmission, pull the back two housings off, and seal them up with Permatex Gray. Otherwise, I guess you could clean it up with alcohol, wipe it dry, and put silicone sealant around the outside. Might do the trick? carnumber19
The transmission will be coming out when I replace the bearings (pilot and throwout) so I'll go ahead and reseal the rear then, the transmission has not been rebuilt in the past. Is there a factory gasket, or do you just recommend using the Permatex anyway?
BAC5.2
There is a factory gasket. Remove it. Scrape it off with a razor and clean up both mating surfaces with a green 3M scrub pad (you can get them at the grocery store). Seal it up with Permatex Gray, and bolt everything back together.
