dbolen
Guys, I intend to add a shift light to my GT and am wondering if someone knows which ECU(or other wire) is the one to use to get the tach signal from. Guest *Jedimaster*
I have one- it is connected to the 12v power to the cigarette lighter.
almondcookie
Where are you going to put the light/indicator - if you don't mind me asking? I miss my "Shift Up" blinking light on my rx7's tach. Too bad we have the "Legacy" there and I wasn't such a doof with electronics.
dbolen
Almond, It is a simple kit from here http://www.autospeed.com/shop/category_579/browse.html About the 5th one down or so(called a fequency switch). The light is easy and can go almost anywhere...I was thinking I might just put it in the cubby or something. Jedi....I *do* need a tach wire though...this one doesn't read off the alternator pulses.....I bought it cause I may want to move it to a different car...a 1977 Puma GTE(8.75lbs/hp). So, if anyone knows which wire????? Cheers, dave Drive softly and carry big torque!
almondcookie
I would try to integrate it into the tach because you're looking at the tach anyway to shift. I was thinking more along the lines of the apex'i and japanese style tachs and not like the autometer style flashlight bulb. japanese style is basically a small lightbulb that blinks so as the needles coming up, the little light blinks. I dunno .. my wishful thinking ideas.
Guest *Jedimaster*
I see- didn't someone post a diagram of the ECU pinout somewhere?
John M
You may need a tach adapter. I have an Autometer (not on this car) from JEGS for $80. Accel also has one at Summit Racing for $50. It taps into the + wire feeding the #1 coil and converts it into a signal a standard tach can read. The Autometer unit is pretty popular in the Ford 4.6 community.
