phenryiv1
Does anyone know the max speaker mounting depth in front doors without spacers? Here is what I have determined: With a 5/8" or 3/4" spacer, I have been able to fit several sets of speakers that have a top-mount depth of 2" to 2.25" in the front (and rear, for that matter) doors. According to crutchfield, their flimsy, cheesey spacer/adapter (around 3/8-1/2" thick, but hollow) allows up to a 2 7/16" speaker in the doors. Logically, this would put stock depth around 2" in the front doors. No real info on the rear, other than the fact that 2" fit with a 5/8" spacer. Whether or not spacers are needed, an adapter is still necessary, but I have fielded several questions lately about maximum depth when using my spacers. I tried to determine max depth through a search, but no luck. If anyone knows the stock depth, please post it here. If not, my working hypothesis is about 2.5" with a 3/4" spacer.
